Brenda Kelley Harrison, Member at Large

Brenda Kelley Harrison was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She had an impactful career in property management.  Her career started in 1973 where she served as a leasing agent with Just Management Company. Due to her hard work and dedication, she received two promotions in less than a year, first to Resident Manager and then to Property Manager overseeing 1000+ units. As Ms. Harrison's talents grew, she was afforded the opportunity to oversee multiple apartment home communities with Cousins Properties and Harold Dawson Company, respectively. Receiving a certification from the National Association of Realtors, Ms. Harrison remained in property management until 1985 when she was offered a position with the US Postal Service, from which she retired in 2013.

Ms. Harrison is well-suited for the position of Commissioner of the Housing Authority of Clayton County due to her previous experience of serving on the HACC Board of Commissioners.  Ms. Harrison received Commissioner Certification from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) in October 2020.

Ms. Harrison is actively involved in the Clayton County community and seeks to improve and enhance the needs of its citizens. Showcasing a commitment to public service, Ms. Harrison is currently a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care, since 2018 and has served on the Clayton County Board of Education Advisory Board since 2020.

In addition to being a graduate of Leadership Clayton Class of 2017, Ms. Harrison has consistently demonstrated leadership capacity in various roles such as being a graduate of the Grassroots Leadership Institute, a member of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, and serving on the Clayton County Democratic Party Council. ​ 

Her consistent attendance and dedication as a Trustee of the Clayton County Library Board of Trustees for 6 years without missing a meeting, her role as Vice Chair for the Walking In Authority Teen Council Board of Directors and serving on the 1st MARTA Rider's Advisory Council representing Clayton County is an indication of a strong background in community engagement, commitment, and leadership. 

Ms. Harrison is the mother of two wonderful daughters, amazing twin granddaughters, one fantastic 6-year-old grandson and a super duper 2-year-old great grandson.
